After seeing the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease on his elderly clients and family friends, Matt decided to found the Saratoga Springs Memory Walk in 1997 with his wife Stephanie Ferradino, Esq. Matt acted as Walk Chairman from 1997 to 2001. The Saratoga Springs Memory Walk has been held every year for the past ten years. The inaugural walk had 150 participants and raised $10,000. In 2001, when the Walk was attended by Saratoga Springs Native David Hyde Pierce, it had grown to 1,000 participants with over $200,000 being raised. Since the Walk’s inception in 1997, over one million dollars has been raised to fight Alzheimer’s Disease. In recognition of his efforts, Matt was awarded the 1999 Saratoga Jaycees Outstanding Young Leader Award and the 2000 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Alzheimer’s Association.
Matt graduated from the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Saratoga program in 1998. He was one of the first people recognized by The Saratogian for his community leadership in its feature “Twenty Under Forty”.
